**Job Purpose**:

- To co-ordinate, provide and impelement a comprehensive Primary Health Care Service for specific
Clinics

**Key Responsibility Areas**:

- Renders child health, immunisations, family planning, ante-natal, neonatal, perinatal and post
natal care, management of medical and surgical emergencies, clinical assessment, diagnosis
and treatment of ailments, illnesses and diseases, nutrition, oral health, eye testing, pre and
post test counselling, health education, health promotion and rehabilitative services.
- Provision of a Primary Health Care function at Clinics
techniques and approaches
- Providing a comprehensive health care service to women during pregnancy and after delivery
by assessing and determining the health status of both the mother and child through clinical
examinations and essential screening procedures for a range of risk factors, utilizing applied
specialized nursing skills
- Co-ordinates and provides a comprehensive communicable disease service
- Providing primary level care for acute and chronic medical illness to adults and children
- Attends to the tasks and activities associated with these screening functions
- Participates in the delivery of health promotion, training and educational programmes on
clinical approaches to safe and healthy living
- Undertake community participation and project development in the clinic and surrounding
geographical area as assigned by the Senior Professional Nurse
- Orders and maintains adequate stock, supplies, surgical sundries and vaccines to clinics and
processes sterility tests for all clinics.
- Manages, co-ordinates, controls and implements tasks necessary for stock requisitions, stock
control and stock maintenance, including pharmaceutical requirements for clinics

**Essential Requirements**:

- Current registration with the South African Nursing Council as a General Nurse and Midwife.

**Preferred Requirements**:

- Valid motor vehicle drivers license (Code B).
- Diploma in Community Nursing Certificates in Family Planning, Clinical Health Assessments,
- Diagnosis, Treatment and Care (In terms of Section 38A of Nursing Act No.50 of 1978).
- 12 Months relevant experience.
