The School is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced IT professional to fill the position of IT Support Consultant who will report to the Head of School through the School Administration Manager. The successful applicant is expected to be fully conversant with general IT knowledge including MS Windows OS (both desktop and server) and MS Office. He/she will be responsible for:

- Troubleshooting and providing necessary on-site IT support to both staff and students with their software and hardware problems.
- Resolving network issues timeously.
- Maintaining the School's IT/AV equipment and servers.
- Maintaining the School's website.
- Acting as the liaison person between the School and the University's Information and Communications Technology (ICT) department and the Centre for Learning, Teaching and Development (CLTD) e-Learning function.
- Liaising with the bookkeeper to ensure that new IT/AV equipment and software purchased is within the University specifications from University-approved vendors.
- Liaising with the bookkeeper to keep the School's computing and IT/AV asset register up to date.
- Any other duty as may be assigned from time to time by the Head of School and/or the School Administration Manager.

**Qualifications and experience**:
A minimum of a relevant diploma in computing is required. A degree in computing is an advantage. At least one year IT user-support experience in networking, and Windows-based support is required, preferably within a university environment. Knowledge of mining engineering related software and programming languages used in the engineering discipline such as C++ and Python will be advantageous. Applicants should have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work independently and under pressure at peak times.
