Strand Paint and Hardware
- Build It is looking for a dynamic and skilled HR and Payroll Clerk to join their team.
Recruitment, Selection and Induction
- preparation of adverts for vacancies (Drawing up Job descriptions and posting adds on various platforms)
- reference checks - using interview summary sheet and record detail
Onboarding
- Drawing up appropriate employment contracts
- Welcome induction packs to be ready for the first day of onboarding
- Induction training as per induction plan
- contracting trainees, seasonal and permanent appointee’s using the correct contract agreements
- ensure all employees have signed (and understand) an updated code of conduct and disciplinary code
Payroll
- maintaining employee information on time and attendance and payroll systems
- capturing and reconciliation of employee hours daily, weekly and monthly (using the timekeeping system & timesheets)
- capturing / importing of approved employee hours to payroll system and generating transaction lists and payslips
- pay slips distributed on pay day
- payroll reports and monthly payroll system back-ups each month
- Wages - hours calculated according to timesheets, leave allocation and deductions
- Salaries - including timesheets, leave allocation and deductions (retail, admin and management)
- control casual wages
- general administration related to payroll (wage queries, employee information, skills development and employment equity information captured to system for reports)
- Manage time and attendance system
Staff welfare and deductions
- issuing staff clothing to employees as needed
- keep stock levels up to date
- re-order clothing and make sure branding gets done after three quotations is obtained and signed off by management
- administrate fuel claims and fines
- deduction’s reconciled to IOU file and processed to payroll for deduction on due dates
Skills Development
- liaising with management and identify skills shortages and where there is need to improve and discuss training needs with management to develop action plans
- identifying suitable training interventions by accredited training providers
- sourcing quotes per training intervention required
- organizing and conducting internal / external training sessions / workshops for staff where required and in line with company goals / legislative requirements
Employee relations
- consult and advise supervisors, management and staff on Labour relations issues.
- monitor employee adherence to code of conduct and rules and follow up with managers to ensure that the relevant steps are taken to improve / enforce adherence (warnings).
General
- develop, update and implement all HR policies and procedures
- participate in health and safety activities
- assist with workmen’s compensation / accidents claims
- evaluate workforce needs - Analyse the skills and competencies required for each job and update job descriptions in line with the Company’s objectives
- preparation and upkeep of job descriptions (What is expected) for all employees
**REQUIREMENTS**:
- HR Diploma or equivalent
- 2 years’ experience in a similar role
- excellent clear and positive communication (verbal and non-verbal)
- work well under pressure.
- manage time and prioritise work effectively to meet deadlines.
- accurately follow verbal and written directions from senior management
- Customer-focused attitude, with high level of professionalism and discretion
SALARY: Market related
WORKING HOURS:
Monday - Fridays 08:00 - 17:30 and alternative Saturdays
This position is based at Strand Paint and Hardware, Strand
**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent
**Salary**: R13,000.00 - R15,000.00 per month
