Role

The Logistics Officer, reporting to the Intermodal Cluster and Logistics Manager, will ensure management of container stock to cover exports bookings and in terum ensure that unused stock is evacuated.

**Responsibilities**:
Monitoring stock in the respective depots - ensuring we have sufficient stock to cover exports bookings and in turn ensure that unused stock is evacuated.
Monitoring damages - Liaising with MNR officer on major damaged units that can be planned for evacuations. Following up with empty depot on the progress of repairs and availability of equipment for commercial use.
Arranging transportation for stock feeding and evacuations.
Sending pre-advises to depots for evacuation.
Ensure releases for export commercial bookings are sent in time. Working closely with Bookings and Cargo Readiness teams
Ensuring correct procedure is followed by clients requesting to triangulate containers
For booking placed in the morning to be released in the afternoon, and for afternoon booking to be released latest the following morning (depending on client’s needs and stock availability)
Monitoring GAIA for discrepancies, and resolving it with GBS team
Assisting SSC team with tracking errors
Ensuring long idles are monitored and comments updated. Keep aging idling units under 60 days
Tracking errors to be resolved within 24 hours
Ensure that invoices are checked on a regular basis on accounting system (CIRA and CORSAIR) and resolving issue in a timely manner
Requesting and planning of empty evacuations with HO and DRO for all vessel services in their location. Ensuring that no vessel is missed with regards to planning

Qualifications & profile

+ 4 Years’ shipping line experience

Grade 12

Tertiary qualification in a related field will be an advantage

Intermediate to advance, computer skills

Proficient on Microsoft Office

Ability to work under pressure and after hours

Attention to detail

Good communication skills
