A market leader in retail with expertise & world class infrastructure housing iconic international & local fashion brands, is hiring a Merchandiser, to be based in Johannesburg, Gauteng.

This is an exciting opportunity to become part of an established, but also rapidly expanding fashion house.

**OVERALL TASKS**
- Provide seasonal unique style direction
- Assist in production development, price negotiation, sample & production follow up and implementing new designs
- Facilitating product fitting sessions in cooperation with the QA Department.
- Development of men’s/boys denim by season.
- Selections from the International head office denim range, with relevance to the South African and Australian markets
- Wash, style and fabric selection by month/season.
- Range coordination according to a seasonal SKU matrix by category
- Preparation of product packages by style
- Development approvals, fabric, wash and style approvals; management of denim trims hardware and tags.
- Assistance to the Merchandise Manager regarding price negotiation with suppliers.
- Presentation and selling of seasonal ranges to customers.
- Fitting and general look of the produce.
- Coordinating approvals of product from the International Head Office

**SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE**
- Matric (Grade 12)
- A tertiary qualification in fashion, clothing & têxtiles or relative discipline would be an advantage
- MS Office suite of software programmes, specifically MSWord and Excel
- Appropriate experience in the Retail/wholesale fashion industry
- Well experience in order follow up, quality control, sampling coordination & trims
- 1-3 years of retail merchandising experience.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate with all levels of management.
- Strong interpersonal skills - able to communicate and work well in a team environment.
- Strong customer focus by being dedicated to meeting the expectations and requirements of the customers.
- Is action oriented - enjoys hard work; is focused on getting things done and is full of energy to meet challenges; seizes opportunities when they arise.

**Salary**: R16k - R20k, dependant on experience
