An established and rapidly expanding local and international apparel and fashion business is seeking to permanently employ a Men’s Fashion & Apparel Buyer in either their Cape Town, Johannesburg or George office. This is an excellent opportunity to work with established and international fashion and apparel brands.
**Responsibilities**
- Analysing business and fashion trends in order to keep up with the latest developments and needs regarding merchandise
- Regularly reviewing the patterns, volumes and trends regarding merchandise sales
- Forecasting and developing plans to ensure adequate stock levels, reacting to changes in demand and keeping logístical restraints in mind
- Meeting with suppliers, establishing business relationships and negotiating the terms of contract.
- Maintaining relationships with existing suppliers and sourcing new suppliers for future products.
- Liaising with other teams within the brand to ensure that specific projects are completed within requirements
- Attending trade fairs, locally and overseas, to select and assemble a new collection of products
- Participates in the brand’s promotional activities as and when required
- Compiling business reports & sales forecasts, and analysing the sales figures
- Liaising with the retail store staff to ensure that the product range as well as the volume supply meets the retail outlets’ demand
- Researching customer trends and obtaining merchandise feedback from customers Training and mentoring junior staff
**Requirements**:
- Matric (Grade 12)
- A tertiary qualification in fashion, clothing & têxtiles or relative discipline would be an advantage
- Commercial degree in retail or business will be a distinct advantage
- High level of commercial awareness
- Experience within the apparel and fashion industry is a must
- Demonstrated and strong interest in and commitment to this area of the retailing business
- Possess excellent administrative and analytical skills
- A high level of creative flair and the ability to generate good ideas is required
- The ability to successfully work as part of a team
- Good organisational skills and the ability to make sound decisions
- The ability to cope with the pressure of meeting demanding business targets and working to tight deadlines
- Sound interpersonal skills and the ability to get along with a wide range of people
- Must possess tenacity and a determination to succeed
- A high level of industrial/commercial awareness
- The ability to multi-task, excellent communication skills, be confident, have a flair for negotiation, be able to influence people and network
**Salary -** R25k to R35k, dependent on skills and experience.
**Salary**: R25,000.00 - R35,000.00 per month
