Requirements
- Degree in information systems or information technology, or other

relevant tertiary qualification, and/or extensive experience in the

field of information systems in the health sector, preferably in the

public sector
- Demonstrated experience in the implementation, use of and

reporting from computerised health information systems and

experience in training staff and support
- Demonstrated experience and skills in business and IT strategy

planning, project management, and change management
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with a wide

range of role players inside and outside the City.

Key Performance Areas
- Manage the health information section within City Health
- Oversee the systems, tools and processes for the collection and

reporting of health information required internally (e.g. quarterly

performance review) and externally (e.g. to Provincial and National

departments of health)
- Oversee maintenance of City Health’s current health information

system, PREHMIS, including ensuring alignment with internal and

external reporting requirements, user account management, and

experts and the City’s Information Systems and Technology (IS&T)

Department
- Oversee the digitisation of paper-based clinical record keeping and

processes as part of City Health’s health modernisation program,

including the development and implementation of a new clinical

the IS&T project team
- Play a key role in information governance activities within City

Health, including providing input and advice on information issues,

development and maintenance of information-related policies and

processes, and participating in relevant working groups
- Liaise with Western Cape Government Health, and other external

partners, to ensure alignment to reporting requirements and

maintenance of standards
