General Manager Marketing: Brand Strategy

To develop multi-functional brand marketing and communications operating models and frameworks in a broadly defined group functional strategy; positioning and enabling horizontal alignment, implementation and adoption to maximise the value (economic and social) of the Nando’s brand across various platforms.
Ensure alignment between the long-term business strategy and marketing strategy and adequate reporting thereof.
Set actionable strategic priorities for marketing that is aligned with the business objectives and ensures successful implementation and measurement thereof.
Develop and drive national annual pricing objectives, implementation and measurement thereof.
and implement core business research measurement and reporting thereof.
Drive the effectiveness and consistency of all promotional, advertising and PR initiatives from the South African Marketing strategy (including Brand execution) across Nando’s SA to ensure effective communication there of (The 3 P’s promotional segment).
Communicate the brand strategy in such a way that engages and inspires all fellow Nandocas to bring this strategy to life within their functional area.
Monitor and measure brand equity and strength and adjusts brand strategy and marketing initiatives accordingly.
Continuous reporting and report writing on key findings on core business initiatives, progress and overall business performance across various stakeholder groups. (Internal and external stakeholders).
Representation of the Marketing function in cross functional steerco meetings.
Include the 3 P’s.
Consultative capacity - the 4th P is Place. Provide input in a market penetration project.
Compile and share bi-annual KPA scorecard to the various Marketing GM’s to be used for performance reviews.
Support Portfolio manager in developing strategic brand plans across various consumer segments and menu categories that aligns with overall business strategy and drive implementation and measurement thereof.
Support Portfolio manager and Head of Food with the formulation of the innovation roadmap.
Support Portfolio manager with project management of all new product development initiatives. This will include implementation and alignment with promotional calendar, formulating business and commercial business case and the post measurement of all initiatives.
Support all internal teams in implementation of annual promotional calendar(s) and ensure approvals various stakeholder groups (OPSCO AND EXCO).
Advise grocery channels on consumer strategy development and implementation
Support Business Analyst to ensure consistent and ongoing interpretation of all available internal and external information into a coherent and relevant set of actionable strategic imperatives for the Nando’s brand.
Drive strategic relationship with Supply Chain, Finance and Operations to ensure ongoing alignment and collaboration with Business Intelligence initiatives/tasks/projects.
Support Business Analyst and Consumer Insights Manager to provide data and information that leads to insights regarding customer buying behaviours, macro market trends and performance, competitors and campaign effectiveness that support internal measures and support business decision making.
Research & Insight: Consumer and Restaurant segmentation:
- Ongoing consolidation, collation and reporting of pertinent business intelligence data to relevant management levels as and when required.
- Support the ongoing improvements and updates of all Bill of materials (BOMs) and Supply Chain catalogue for usage in the pricing process.
Support the Advertising and Media Manager to develop and implement the South African advertising, communication and media strategies.
Oversee the full development of all Above-the-line (ATL) campaign elements. This includes (but not limited to) television, radio, print, OOH, digital, PR.
Support the PR manager to develop and implement the South African B2B and B2C PR strategies. (Business 2 Business) and Business to Consumer initiatives.
Support the Advertising and Media Manager to develop and implement the South African sponsorship strategy.
**Minimum Requirements**:
Marketing and/or Commercial Degree or equivalent qualification.
Experience in marketing and advertising 10 years
Senior Marketing Management experience 5 of 10 years
Post Graduate Degree. (Advantageous)
**Duties and Responsibilities**:
Manage Brand & Strategy budget including all promotional funds applicable to brand strategy
Forecast and submit to finance for reconciliation and feedback.
Manage a budget of R100 million and track budget expenditure through effective monthly reconciliation.
Manage the voucher budget to adhere to forecasts, track and monitor and provide feedback on progress.
Manage all costs including discounts, float allocations, production and distribution costs.
Work closely with the financial department to ensure all costs and revenue are accounted for on an ongoing basis
