Our Durban based client is looking for a qualified and experienced National Takaful Manager.

**CORE PURPOSE OF THE JOB**

Responsible for leading and managing the sales and underwriting process while achieving targeted business plan goals on a national level.

This role involves overseeing broker consultants, driving business growth, and ensuring efficient operations. It also includes developing business strategies and providing technical guidance to internal teams, ensuring high service levels and compliance.

**MAIN FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB**
- Achieve targeted sales and underwriting profit.
- Drive business growth and retention through effective management.
- Contribute to the development of business propositions.
- Provide technical underwriting support and coaching to staff.
- Implement and contribute to the business strategy.
- Analyze and report on business performance.
- Manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Lead and develop broker consultants and ensure staff training in required technical skills.

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- BCom degree or equivalent qualification.
- FAIS compliant.
- Minimum of 5 years of technical expertise in underwriting.
- AIISA / ACII qualification is an added advantage.

**PREFERRED EXPERIENCE**
- Experience in the South African insurance/re-insurance market.
- Expertise in underwriting principles and performance optimization.
- Strong understanding of statutory and legislative requirements.
- Experience with financial services and compliance frameworks.

**KNOWLEDGE**
- In-depth knowledge of underwriting, insurance, and re-insurance markets.
- Expertise in sales, underwriting targets, and best practices.
- Proficient in using relevant IT systems.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

**NOTE**
- Travel on a national basis is a requirement of the role.
