Assistant Director: Disaster Recovery

**Job Purpose**:
The Department of Local Government, Western Cape Government has an opportunity for a suitably qualified and competent individual to assist with the co-ordination, monitoring and support of disaster management functions in order to co-ordinate disaster recovery.

**Minimum Requirements**:
An appropriate 3-year National Diploma/B-Degree (equivalent or higher qualification); A minimum of 3 years experience in the disaster management, financial management, civil engineer or simailar field.

**Recommendation**:
Experience in the following: Financial Mangement, Civil Engineering and Project Mangement; A valid code B (or higher) driving licence. Note: People with disabilities that restrict driving abilities but have reasonable access to transport may also apply.

**Key Performance Areas**:
**Competencies**:
Knowledge of the following: Division of Revenue Act; Disaster Management Act (Act 57 of 2002) as amended; Related policies and guidelines as well as applicable legislations; Understanding of the disaster management systems and procedures as applied in all three spheres of government with the focus on disaster recovery; Human Resource Management; Financial Management; Strategic Planning. Skills in the following: Computer literacy in MS Office Package (Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc); Ability to work independently and as part of a team; Communication skill (written and verbal).

**Remuneration**:
R 444 036 per annum (Salary level 9)

Note on remuneration: Service benefits or obligations for qualifying employees (medical assistance, housing assistance, pension-fund contributions, etc) are funded or co-funded in terms of the applicable prescripts or collective agreements.
