**The core responsibilities of the position include**:

- Critical analysis of systems and their performance to eliminate repetitive defects and to enhance overall asset reliability.
- Identify, investigate, motivate and implement changes related to the safe and effective performance of the various machine centers.
- Work closely with the Maintenance Planner to ensure that equipment reliability aspects are “locked” into the various machine checks and inspections.
- Provide required assistance to the first line maintenance team especially in the event of significant breakdowns and play an active leading role during shuts.
- Maintain a certain level of expertise associated with ensuring that equipment / system obsolescence issues are dealt with timeously.
- Complete Failure analyses on all breakdown and planned corrective maintenance.
- Analyse RCM on problem areas and proposes Preventative or Predictive Maintenance Schedules.
- Identify training needs and Training providers to improve the skill base, mentor apprentices or trainee technicians.
- Project manage small projects related to their investigations and provide continuous advise on possible improvements with current systems.
- Manage and minimise downtime in the plant and investigate incidents and complete the required documentation and notifications

**The requirements of the position may include**:

- National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- Mechanical trade qualification advantageous.
- Leadership qualities with the ability to co-ordinate maintenance tasks, shutdowns, and project work.
- Maximo experience will be an advantage as well as a working knowledge of plant statutory requirements.
- Root cause and fault-finding experience.
- _Key custodian of Problem-Solving initiatives._
- M_aintain a level of machine expertise ensuring that equipment / system obsolescence issues are dealt with timeously._
- Rolling Mill Experience in maintenance and reliability will be advantageous as well as project planning and execution.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in a manufacturing or technical environment is desired.
- Knowledge of manufacturing principles.
- Excellent computer, data analysis, report writing and presentation skills.
- Ability to work with manufacturing teams and interface with all members of the team.
- Preparedness to work overtime, standby, and shifts when required from time-to-time.
