**Job Purpose**:
To ensure the accurate and efficient receipt of incoming goods. The Receiving Clerk checks deliveries for accuracy, inspects goods for damage, and ensures that stock is correctly recorded and moved into storage or production as required.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Receive and inspect incoming shipments against delivery notes, invoices, or purchase orders.
- Check for damaged or missing items and report any discrepancies to the supervisor.
- Record details of goods received in inventory management systems.
- Ensure received goods are correctly labelled and sorted for storage or further processing.
- Communicate with suppliers and internal departments regarding any delivery issues.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all received stock.
- Assist with stock rotation, inventory counts, and cycle counts as needed.
- Ensure receiving area is clean, safe, and organized.
- Follow health, safety, and hygiene standards during all receiving activities.
**Qualifications and Experience**:
- Grade 12 / Matric (minimum).
- 1-2 years' experience in receiving or general warehouse operations.
- Familiarity with receiving procedures and stock control systems (e.g., SAP, Syspro, or similar).
- Basic computer literacy (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Forklift license (advantageous, if applicable).
**Skills and Competencies**:
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good organizational and record-keeping skills.
- Ability to follow procedures and work independently.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Basic numeracy and literacy.
- Physical ability to lift and move goods as required.
