UCOOK is a tech start-up and dinner-kit delivery service based in Cape Town (Head Office). Our network of some of SA’s top chefs come up with 18 new recipes for our customers to choose from each week, and we deliver perfectly portioned, locally sourced, fresh ingredients to their door - from farm-to-fork With nationwide delivery, we've been in business for just over 5 years now.

We are continuing to increase our offering, introducing products like Frozen Craft Meals, baby food, and wine. We’re more than a meal-kit delivery service, and with more products on the horizon, UCOOK will soon be your one-stop shop for all things delicious

We will need you to have top-notch attention to detail, be flexible, enthusiastic, and teamwork-oriented.

**REQUIREMENTS**:

- Tertiary qualification - Bachelor’s degree with English/Linguistics preferable
- At least 1-2 years experience as a proofreader, content writer, copy editor and/or copywriter (experience in food-related writing preferable)
- Computer literacy with advanced Word and Excel skills and experience
- A meticulous approach to highly detailed work
- Natural aptitude for identifying actual and potential errors
- Desktop research skills
- Basic managerial skills
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work under pressure and meet hard deadlines
- Ability to flourish in a team-oriented environment
- Ability to take initiative with tasks, projects, and problem-solving

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Join the Meal Kit team to manage the recipe card writing and editing process in collaboration with the recipe developers.
- Work with recipe developers & interns contributing to the recipe card process with uploading, checking, and amending errors.
- Continue to improve and streamline the recipe card writing and editing process where possible.
- Writing and editing responsibilities for recipe cards:

- Oversee the generation and perfection of approx 16 - 18 new recipe cards per week from testing to print.
- Complete two rounds of proofreading and editing for each recipe card to check and amend grammar, spelling, logical order of steps, language flow, omissions, ambiguity/clarity, and accessibility.
- In collaboration with the Food Team, provide new copy for recipe card content where necessary.
- Come up with tantalisingly creative titles and subtitles for each new dish on the menu.
- Write a new and unique description for each new dish on the menu.
- Continue to find ways of making instructions simpler, easier, and more intuitively understandable for customers.
- Assist with recipe writing as needed.
- Proofread Food Team material where needed.
- Assist with copywriting and proofreading for:

- Amended recipe card copy
- Marketing collateral
- NPD artwork approval
- Create copy for the food-related side of UCOOK’s wine offering, in particular, the pairing notes.
