**Position Overview**:
**Specific Role Responsibilities**:

- Conduct routine inspections of premises and equipment
- Performing preventative maintenance
- Handling basic repairs and maintenance
- Overseeing contractors when professional repairs are necessary
- Provide daily feedback on task delivery to inform decision making processes
- Provide support to the Line Manager to ensure facilities are maintained
- To ensure safe working environment according to building regulatory compliance standards
- Resolve routine problems and report unresolved issues to ensure problems are addressed timeously
- Experience with plumbing (including washers, taps, unblocking toilets, urinals and toilets, pipework (copper or PVC)) and electrical systems required
- Tasks include plumbing work, painting, flooring repair and upkeep, minor electrical repairs as well as heating and air conditioning systems maintenance knowledge
- To assist with minor plumbing including unblocking sinks and drains; repairs to toilets (ablutions) etc
- To undertake minor items of repair and maintenance for the benefit and safety of client / staff and contractors
- The minor repair of fixtures and fittings including desks, tables, and chairs as required
- Responsible for all planned preventative maintenance on site, including but not limited to proactive and reactive work (may involve weekend or after hours work, when required)
- To deal with repairs where necessary as instructed by the Facility Manager
- To deal with minor electrical repairs and fixings
- Basic knowledge of security and access control systems
- General carpentry such as hanging doors, new locks, window frames, assembling furniture, replacing handles and similar hardware
- General tiling - floors
- General painting
- Weekend and after-hours work may be required from time to time
- Management of gardening staff
- Liaison with security guards

**Qualifications and Experience**:

- Grade 12/Matric
- Electrical certificate
- 3 - 5 years' experience in a similar environment / role
- Must have own transportation & valid driver’s license
- Proven maintenance experience
- Skilled in the use of hand and power tools
- Competent at basic building repairs and maintenance
- Knowledge of industrial/electrical/mechanical equipment (e.g., generators, hydro boiler, dishwasher, garden equipment etc.)
- Knowledge of health and safety procedures and precautions, including OHS Act regulation and guidelines in the workplace
