Business Unit Director: Full-service Agency

We have a terrific opportunity for an experienced Business Unit Director to run media and creative at a full-service agency based in Cape Town. The Business Unit Director is a key role in the business and is responsible for leading and managing the team, providing strategic and operational input, being knowledgeable of all work in the system and driving client relationships. This role requires a person who can build meaningful relationships with senior clients in the business by providing strategic advice and direction in order to meet their business and marketing objectives.

**Responsibilities**:
Client Management
- Build strong, long-term client relationships with senior clients and maintain frequent contact
- Understand Client and Brand strategies and be familiar with yearly goals and KPIs across both media and creative
People Management
- Manage the day-to-day activities of the projects worked on in both creative and media - ensuring accuracy, adherence to processes, delivery and agreed budgets
- Work with team to check and monitor quality control of work leaving the studio (Reviewing, testing, and approving the final delivery).
Project Management
- Oversee and manage the team Scoping, scheduling, and managing the production of projects in terms of timing, deliverables and functional specifications
- Develop budgets and cost estimates in response to client briefing, ensuring all costs are approved and processes followed
- Ensure the team are implementing projects according to requirements and specifications, reviewing work for accuracy and functionality
- Ensure all work is of a high standard before presentation to client
- Maintain an overview of all work in progress, keeping Directors/Co-Founders up to date with all issues and recommend appropriate solutions.
Finance Management
- You will be responsible for financial management and administration - ensuring the team achieves account forecasts and targets, managing agency profitability, driving and identifying additional revenue opportunities, along with revenue/income reporting
- Management of revenue
- Management of Media Plans, CEs, POs, and supplier invoices
- Accurate estimation of client work so as to meet financial objectives and targets
- Ensure team complete projects within times outlined in scope
- Manage contractual agreements and retainers.
**Requirements**:
- Industry relevant qualification
- Extensive experience delivering on digital as well as through-the-line campaigns with a special focus on performance
- 2+ years’ experience as a Business Unit Director or similar Business Lead Role
- 10+ years’ experience in Account Management or Strategy
- Experience working in Creative and Media agencies (with a focus on digital)
- A proven track record of managing and leading an agency team, with a passion for mentoring and on the job training
- The ability to build meaningful relationships with senior clients in the business by providing strategic advice and direction in order to meet the client’s business and marketing objectives

- Comfortable working on alcohol brands
- This is primarily an in-office role.
