Munich Reinsurance Company of Africa Limited (MRoA) has been operating in South Africa for over 50 years, although the Munich Re (Group) was active on the Continent via Munich Re in Munich for some years prior to commencing the Southern African operation in Johannesburg in 1968. The Head Office of MRoA is in Johannesburg, with a client service Life office situated in Cape Town.

Your job

**Job Purpose**

**This position bears responsibility for**:

- Providing strategic leadership and management to the Life Claims Management Unit
- Promoting and ensuring effective claims risk management practices relating to the MRoA Life
- portfolio
- Implementing claims risk management strategy in partnership with Life clients
- Providing solutions for all claims related matters
- Claims assessment/opinions service offering and support provided to all clients

**Your Job**

**Claims management**
- Ensure claims assessment / opinions service offering and support is provided to clients
- Claims audits with pro-active outcomes
- Claims management training tailored specifically to clients’ training needs
- Ensure efficient running systems to support internal claims assessment and monitoring (RML)

**Internal and external consulting**
- Revision of policy terms and conditions for effective claims risk management
- Contributing to product development and innovation that engenders pro-active claims risk management
- Active participation in tenders, new business acquisition and client-retention strategies
- Working in partnership with clients to provide solutions for and add value to their internal claims risk management practices
- Promoting MRoA and its claims services including but not limited to participating in client/industry seminars, and training

**Information management**
- Claims experience analysis for improved claims risk management
- Monitoring claims referred to Munich Re for assessment.
- Informal research/trends and claims experience analysis and disseminate information to clients

**Leadership and Performance Management**
- Lives MRoA values & serves as a role model for the claims management team
- Creating an enabling work environment that fosters effective teamwork, tolerance, high performance and clarity of purpose
- Drives and maintains a high performance culture

**Profile**:

- BSc - Occupational therapy - minimum 10 years management experience in the insurance industry (dealing with claims) OR Equivalent qualification - Minimum 10 years management experience in the insurance industry (dealing with claims)
