Purpose

As a Team Lead, you will be joining an agile team of versatile developers who are passionate about the products they build. We enable our clients to seamlessly transact and engage with their customers (on a global scale via channels like WhatsApp, Google RCS, Apple Business Chat, etc).

You will be at the forefront of managing the development of user centric UIs with a major focus on User Experience and collaborate with the backend developers to create class leading products. You will play a vital Web Applications Development role where you will take the designs created, write technical user stories and enabling the team to convert them into functional deliverables.

Responsibilities of the Role
- Work with an awesome geographically distributed team of developers, designers, product managers, and project managers to implement the next generation of products and/or features.
- Lead the team to:

- Build solutions that can scale (thousands of users).
- Developer software iteratively and deliver working code with each iteration, including authoring relevant documentation as test cases.
- Collaborate with key internal stakeholders including, Products, Design and Support.
- Lead, mentor, and assist the team in finding solutions and strategies to attain goals set out by management.
- Monitor performance and participation of team members and collect feedback from the team to provide guidance.
- Drive and lead optimal implementation, debugging and testing of new product features or enhancements on existing features.
- Implement a test-driven development approach using unit tests, functional tests, and integration tests in an agile environment.
- Have regular one-on-one sessions with team members and assist with the creation and tracking of personal development plans.
- Facilitate and lead backlog grooming sessions, sprint planning and sprint reviews.
- Create flow and sequence diagrams to illustrate high-level solutions for feature requests.
- Partake in discussion of architecture, design recommendations and implementations.
- Play a thought-leadership role within the Application Development Community of Practice (COP), supporting and driving the vision of the COP Core Competencies.

Requirements of the Role
- 5+ years of software development experience with PHP, HTML/CSS/JS
- Diploma in Information Technology, BTech (IT), B.Sc. Computer Science, or equivalent
- Has successfully led a team of software developers
- Work Experience
- Experience with various PHP frameworks: Symfony 2, Laravel, Zend, Proprietary
- Experience with HTML/JS/CSS, Bootstrap, and other component libraries
- Experience with Git, GitLab or other Source Control Management tools
- Experience with integration of data from various back-end services and databases
- Experience with high transactional high availability low latency environments
- Experience with the Agile methodology
- Familiarity with Test automation, unit tests and functional tests an advantage
- Characteristics and Skills
- Strong leadership skills, being able to lead a team by example as the senior member and act as the bridge between the team and management
- Ability to take on responsibility, ownership and be accountable
- Passion for technology, attention to detail, assertive nature and self-driven
- Excellent communication and technical documentation skills
- Sharing of knowledge, interpersonal skills, and mentoring of others
