**JOB DESCRIPTION**

The Spray Painter is responsible for the following:
**AREA / TYPE**

**Responsibilities**

Housekeeping

1. Maintains a tidy, neat working environment which complies with occupational health standards.

2. Keeps spray bay clean and safe

3. Ensures quality work on machines

Painting

1. Prepares surfaces to be coated by using various methods to remove grease, dirt and rust

2. Selects desired color, according to specifications.

3. Pours coating liquid into spray container and connects gun to air hose, using wrenches.

4. Turns sprayer valves and nozzle to regulate width and pressure of spray according to knowledge of painting technique.

6. Coats areas inaccessible to hand sprayer, using brush.

7. Cleans spraying equipment and brushes with solvent. May use acid, wire brush, or steel wool to remove rust from metal.

8. Touches up defected areas of pained machines

9. Cleans nozzles, containers and hoses of machines

Safety

1. Operates spray paint equipment in a safe manner

2. Wears protective clothing, masks and goggles when handling paint materials

3. Cleans spray bay as per housekeeping check list

1. Matric / Grade 12

2. Ability to operate spray paint equipment

3. Physical health (Positive medical assessment)
