**THE ROLE**
The Implementation Specialist role involves end-to-end system commissioning based on clients' business requirements, which includes configuration, deployment, integration and testing of the clients' licensed software solutions.
Implementation Specialists ensure that the licensed software systems meet the client's technical and business needs. They customise and implement the software according to the client's requirements and train the client in using the software.
The role entails building and maintaining professional relationships with Traderoot clients, so the Implementation Specialist needs to have good communication and problem-solving skills. They also need good teamwork skills because they are required to escalate product issues for resolution within the department and interdepartmentally.
**RESPONSIBILITIES**
The position entails the following responsibilities:
- Managing the successful delivery of projects and deployments for a range of clients
- Configuring systems to comply with functional requirements documentation
- Creating clear and attainable delivery objectives, managing constraints and stakeholder expectations
- Compiling implementation documentation and implementation plans
- Commissioning and installing software into SIT, UAT and Production environments
- Performing system integrations with clients and third-party suppliers
- Managing technical configuration of the entire solution
- Staying up to date with TEP software updates, changes and releases
- Conducting research to gain technical understanding of projects where necessary
- Providing recommendations for improvements to products and systems
- Escalating issues to appropriate internal and external stakeholders
- Providing after-hours client support when and where required
- Contributing to training documentation and participating in client training
**REQUIREMENTS**
- A relevant tertiary qualification, such as a BSc in Computer Science, a Diploma in IT or a related field, or a certification such as an MCSE
- At least three years' technical implementation and/or product support experience - preference will be given to applicants with payment services, financial industry or banking experience
- Experience with platform and operating system architecture
- Basic understanding of IT networks, firewalls and network routing
- Solid understanding of SDLC processes and methodologies
- A combination of technical and business process knowledge
- Ability to work in a client-facing environment
- Excellent document management skills
- Ability to manage tasks and priorities under pressure
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to travel locally and internationally
**DESIRED SKILLS**
The following areas of expertise would be advantageous in this role:
- Knowledge of IT service management practices such as ITIL
- Experience in both Agile and Waterfall methodologies
- Operational security awareness
- Experience with platform and operating system architecture
- Ability to perform operating system and software installations
- Knowledge of the Oracle Java Runtime Environment
- Knowledge of databases and Microsoft SQL Server
- Experience with writing basic SQL queries
- Exposure to the ISO 8583 and ISO 20022 payment protocols
- Knowledge of common protocols and standards such as TCP/IP, RDP, VPN, SSL/TLS and FTP
