A large-scale competitive construction and engineering company have an aim of providing more job opportunities and economic stability throughout Africa. They currently have an opportunity for a Contracts Manager to handle large and complex infrastructure projects. At present, the company is tackling a massive water transfer project, amongst others, so make your contribution towards meeting South Africa's water needs by joining and managing some of these substantial projects.

**Position details**:
Type: Permanent

Reports to: MD/ Founder.

Job titles of direct reports: Country Leading Branch Manager.

**Job description / core competencies**:
The individual must establish a clear strategy (objectives & targets) for Construction Associates. Implement the company’s long and short-term plan in accordance with planned and approved strategy by senior management. Promote a culture that reflects the organisation’s values and objectives. Plan and monitor the progress of projects scheduled on the company’s action plan. Develop and implement procedures and controls to promote communication and efficient information flow. Must evaluate the results of individual projects regularly (using forecasts, job costing and profit and loss templates as tools) and report these results to the MD. Independently aid in negotiating and administering contracts and set up systems for monitoring contracts. In conjunction with the MD, come up with strategic plans where appropriate, to support business development opportunities. Will oversee the operations of the company and manage its compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. Will have to ensures that the MD is provided with all project operations information and performance progress on a timely basis. Ensure that the company’s operations and business dealings are within the parameters set by the MD. Monitor design and delivery of site programs and services. Experience with concrete dams, reservoirs and tunnels will be advantageous.

Travel requirements: Travel to project sites.

**Job Qualifications, Skills & Experience**:
Education: BTech (or higher) in Civil Engineering; Building Science, Quantity Surveying, or any other related discipline for large construction projects

Experience: At least 10 to 15 years’ experience in a Contracts manager or similar role.

Skills / Attributes:

- Strong communication skills.
- Can work well under pressure.
- Excellent verbal and writing skills.
- Must be confident, decisive, possess leadership qualities and highly adaptable.
- An understanding of legal documentation.
- Prior experience with Pipeline, Dam, Tunnel and Reservoir construction.
