A company based in Pretoria is seeking to employ a Grant Officer to assist with accounting and reporting for various grants. The Grant Officer will primarily be responsible for accounting and clerical tasks and must ensure efficient, timely and accurate processing of grants and relevant programme finances. The officer will be responsible for preparing the payment reports per the finance calendar and maintaining cash floats.
The Grant Officer will need exceptional organisational skills, be a motivated team player who can work under pressure, and have an enthusiastic and ‘hands-on’ approach to the job.
**Overview of duties**
- Review and provide feedback on draft donor agreements
- Maintain donor files, reporting schedules and calendars
- Assist Programmes in preparing annual and quarterly budgets specific to donor requirements and spending rules per the grant agreement. Load and maintain budgets
- Prepare donor invoices and the confirmation of receipt of funds
- Preparing variance report summaries, meeting with the Programmes and maintaining effective systems for monitoring grant expenditure
- Prepare donor financial reports, reconciliations and disbursement requests and submit reporting pack
- Respond to donor queries and arrange and attend meetings when required
- Prepare the Accounts Payable payment batches
- Manage cash floats and process transactions
- Extract, request and consolidate supporting documents for project-specific audits and assist with year-end audit preparation
**Overview of requirements**
- Degree in Accounting or related field
- A minimum of three years’ grant administration
- Good understanding and working knowledge of project management
- Good organisational skills
- Effective communication skills (verbal and written) and fluent in English
- Willing to travel to regional offices in Dakar, Addis and Nairobi
