**Requirements**:

- Bachelor’s Degree / Advanced Diploma in Disaster (Risk)

Management or relevant Degree/Advanced Diploma with major in
Disaster Management supported by disaster management training
- Eight (8) years’ experience in the field of Disaster Risk Management,

of which four (4) years at Disaster Management Officer level
- Managing a complex, area-based disaster risk management

service
- Managing people and resources at operational, tactical and

strategic level during emergencies and disasters
- Acting experience at Area/Portfolio Head/ Deputy Chief Disaster

Management Officer level
- Relevant supervisory / management experience in Disaster

Management required, including both pro-active disaster risk
reduction and reactive disaster response activities
- A valid Code B driver’s licence
- Computer literacy: MS Office
- No criminal record
- DMISA Registration: Practitioner (DMPc), or eligible to be registered

Key Performance Areas
- Manage Disaster Risk Management (DRM) institutional capacity

and operations within the area
- Manage stakeholder participation, engagement and relationship

management in Disaster Risk Management
- Manage Disaster Risk Assessment, Risk Reduction, Response and

Recovery
- Manage information, communication and logistics within the area
- Implement risk reduction and preparedness measures for incidents

at major hazard installations, sports and recreational events,
commerce, industry, institutions and government departments
- Support DRM public awareness and preparedness programmes
- Compile and implement disaster risk management standard

operating procedures
- Manage operational planning, human resources, transversal teams,

performance, facilities, equipment, resources and finances of the
area
- Manage the effective use of technology within DRM and the area
