An opportunity has arisen for a Team Leader - Trade Operations to join our Apex Cape Town office, based in Mowbray.

Summary of the position

The role of the Team Leader - Trade Operations is the management of the teams responsible for trade capturing, trade matching and transitions.

Outline of main duties and responsibilities

Management:

- Monitoring of service delivery by the teams in terms of SLA and managing clients’ expectations regarding deliverables;
- The management of each individual team member’s performance and ensuring that output is of a high quality at all times;
- The management and co-ordination of team deliverables relating to projects and new client/fund onboarding;
- Providing mentorship and motivation to staff and ensuring that appropriate knowledge sharing and skills training is given;
- Empower the respective team leaders to manage the delivery of daily tasks of their teams;
- Responsibility for resolving issues that have been escalated by the team leaders;
- Review processes periodically and ensure smooth operation of the function;
- Align the team’s strategy and KPIs to that of Investment Operations and the broader Traditional Funds Services strategy

Risk Management:

- Responsibility for managing risk in the Trade Settlements team activities by reviewing processes and ensuring that adequate controls are in place to mitigate risk;
- Assessing opportunities for improved efficiencies and reduced overhead in existing processes, including new technologies and tools;
Relationship Management:

- Build and maintain strong working relationships with external clients regarding matters pertaining to Trade Operation activities.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal operations teams regarding matters pertaining to Trade Operations
- Ensure that an SLA is in place and adhered to with external and internal clients
- Work closely with the Client Management and Service Delivery teams to ensure clients receive the optimal service levels

Skills and experience required
- B.Com or similar tertiary business study and at least 3-5 years experience in Asset Management portfolio administration;
- Strong Asset Management knowledge and experience, especially in trade matching/confirmations;
- Sound knowledge and experience of back office administration processes;
- A good understanding of portfolio management processes and trading lifecycles;
- Strong people management skills and a proven ability to empower teams for the best possible output;
- Confident & enthusiastic, and have a structured approach to work;
- Ability to work in a pressurised environment;

The Team Leader - Trade Operations will report to the Manager
