**Job Advert Summary**:
The National Sea Rescue Institute will appoint an experienced Emergency Operations Centre Supervisor to oversee the effective operation of the EOC, supporting NSRI stations, Community Programmes staff and lifeguards to effectively perform rescues and advocacy tasks.

This position will require the incumbent to generally work a Monday to Friday, 8AM to 4PM work week, but will on occasion require after hours calls from (and callouts to) the EOC to assist with escalated emergencies. This would include possible call-out during weekends and public holidays.

The NSRI has 50+ stations, satellite stations and Lifeguard containers across a volunteer network spanning 1500+ volunteers.

**Minimum Requirements**:

- Grade 12 (Minimum)
- Certificate in Disaster Risk Management or similar (Advantageous).
- Minimum 5 years in a relevant rescue environment/ emergency control room, 2 years in a supervisory role.
- Knowledge of emergency operations protocols, search and rescue coordination, SAR tool usage and geographical knowledge of the SA coastline and waterbodies.

**Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Implementing the annual EOC plan of operations.
- Providing operational and administrative support to NSRI stations during operations and activities.
- Compiling and implementing monthly shift rotations and plans.
- Supplement EOC shift capability during working hours and on occasions where after hour escalation is necessitated.
- Reviewing emergency calls, assessing trends, reporting on incidents, and conducting investigations.
- Overseeing the assessment of sites to ensure beach safety camera and Pink Rescue Buoy equipment is in place and maintained through available volunteer networks.
- Managing escalations of operations, and ensuring proper processes for coordinated, joint and collaborative attendance to emergencies.
- Collating information related to operations and rescues, drafting initial media statements, and submitting such statements and/or reports appropriately.
- First point of entry for receipt, investigation and feedback of NSRI Administration and Operations queries/complaints.
- Supervising and providing direction to the EOC team during shifts.
- Fostering a positive, collaborative, and high-morale work environment among a shift working team.
- Identifying training/development needs and supporting continuous learning and growth within the team.
