Chief Financial Officer: Full-service Advertising

We have a superb opening for an enthusiastic Chief Financial Officer to make sure everything adds up a at a small, dynamic advertising agency in Cape Town. We’re looking for a qualified CA (SA) to join lead their financial strategies. This is an excellent opportunity for a young, recently qualified CA (SA) who will work directly with the Managing Director in contributing to the success of the company.

As the Chief Financial Officer, you’ll drive the financial success of the company, reporting directly to the Managing Director. Your role involves overseeing finances, ensuring compliance, and aligning financial goals with our growth objectives. The role includes but is not limited to the effective management of accounts receivable and payable, treasury, payroll and fixed assets. You will take charge of the agency’s tax administration, general transactions, and reporting. Additionally, you will be accountable for the coordination and management of all Company Secretarial & statutory requirements.

**Responsibilities**:

- Oversee, manage, and build the full finance function
- Develop, maintain, and implement company financial policies and procedures
- Implement and oversee accounting, internal control and administrative systems
- Oversee reporting, tax, statutory compliance, legal, HR and governance processes and initiatives
- Assisting with implementation of controls in both financial and operational areas of the business
- Review and approval of all areas of accounting records
- Preparation & review of monthly management accounts/budgets/forecasts
- Identify and drive efficiencies in procurement and operational processes
- Develop and execute financial strategies in line with company growth
- Manage day-to-day financial operations and uphold compliance standards
- Prepare reports and budgets for informed decision-making
- Collaborate with external partners including banks, suppliers, and advisors
- Lead and mentor the finance team, fostering a culture of excellence
- Review and release of payments
- Preparation of month end balance sheet recons
- Preparation of monthly profit & loss management report and forecasting
- Review of fixed asset register
- Group payroll review
- Group B-BBEE management - complete management of the group verification
- Review of vat reconciliations
- Review of income tax calculations
- Review of dividends tax return
- Ideation of value creation in group entities
- Management of non-operating entities and trust
- Review and sign-off on team members daily and monthly duties (bank journals & recons, creditors recon, debtors’ recons, WIP recons)
- Ad-hoc assistance to the Managing Director as and when required.

**Requirements**:

- Qualified Accountant - CA (SA) or equivalent
- Minimum of two years post-qualifying practical experience in production or similar industries
- Strong analytical skillset
- Must love a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- A highly organised individual who is responsible to manage tasks on their own
- Hard-worker, efficient, and deadline focused
- Ability to deal with pressure and thrive in a challenging, high growth environment
- Advanced knowledge of - IFRS for SMEs, BCEA, LRA, Companies Act & Income Tax Act. If not, willingness to learn in these areas
- Must be good with people and work well in a team
- Must have proficiency in advanced Excel. Experience with Xero a plus
- IT / Tech background highly advantageous
- Organised, detail-orientated, accurate and neat
