- DIVISION: Enterprise Architecture- PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:
- As a SQL Database Administrator (DBA), you will be tasked with designing, implementing, maintaining, and refining our SQL database systems. Working closely with our development and infrastructure team is essential to enhance database performance, uphold data integrity, and oversee backups.- KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
- Form part of the core team for an exciting Greenfield project.- Install, configure, and maintain SQL Server, MySQL, MongoDB database instances.- Implement and/or manage database security, access controls, and data encryption.- Maintain Database Backups (Ensure backups occur and test backups regularly)- Monitor Database performance and implement performance optimisations in a controlled manner where necessary.- Optimize SQL queries and provide query performance tuning where applicable.- Collaborate with developers to design efficient database schemas.- Stay up to date with database technologies and best practices.-
**Inherent Requirements**
- MINIMUM SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field (or equivalent work experience).- Proven experience as a SQL Database Administrator at least minimum 3 years- Proficiency in MSSQL & MySQL Database Administration.- Strong knowledge of database security and backup procedures.- Experience with database performance tuning and optimisation.- Familiarity with high availability solutions, Disaster Recovery Environments etc.- Relevant certifications are a plus (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate, MySQL Database Administration)- BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:
- Excellent communication, problem-solving and time-management skills- Must be able to perform individually and as part of both an operational and development team.- Excellent analysis and troubleshooting skills.- Ability to manage multiple database environments and consolidate risks, performance, and usage metrics.- 1st month full time office-based, thereafter hybrid work ( 2 days in the office per week)**What Qualification**
