The CFNR is an important conservation site on the Cape Flats and resides on the campus of the UWC. It plays an important role in contributing to environmental education, indigenous horticulture, urban nature conservation and research development, and has won several awards for contributions to conservation and to the re-establishment of indigenous plants on the Cape Flats. The reserve plays an important role to the university and surrounding community, especially in various teaching and research activities.

An exciting opportunity now exists for a person to manage the Cape Flats Nature Reserve and its staff.
- Coordination of all reserve activities (planning, supervision, organisation, administration and marketing) pertaining to the three main sections in the unit, i.e. nature reserve, nursery and education centre.
- Liaise with relevant conservation authorities on ecological management.
- Management of staff performance and development.
- Facilitation of the nature reserve for teaching and research projects.
- Undergraduate teaching within the Department of Biodiversity and Conservation Biology.

**Minimum Requirements**
- Master’s degree in Conservation or Biological science.
- At least two years relevant experience.
- Experience in teaching and/or environmental education.
- Research experience.

**Competencies**:

- Planning and organisation skills.
- Budget management.
- Proven oral and written communication in English.
- Good people management skills.

**Advantages**:

- Experience in nature conservation and/or reserve management.
- A good command of Afrikaans and/or IsiXhosa.-
