- About the role- We are looking for a dynamic and visionary Chief Financial Officer to lead the overall financial function in the cluster. The CFO will own and direct Sanlam Fintech’s financial strategy and is responsible for translating the cluster’s strategy into financial plans and budgets. The incumbent will have full oversight of all cluster financial activities, including financial accounting, management accounting (including budgets and forecasts), financial reporting and financial performance enhancement. The CFO will liaise with, and take overall FinTech responsibility for, functions elsewhere in the Sanlam Group responsible for risk management, compliance, legal, internal audit and Mergers & Acquisitions.- What will you do?**Strategy**
Support the CEO with implementation of the Cluster Strategy
- Assess organisational performance against both the annual budget and Sanlam Fintech’s long-term strategy
- Develop tools and systems to provide critical financial and operational information to the Cluster CEO and make actionable recommendations on both strategy and operations
- Engage the Sanlam Fintech Exco, the Group Exco, Group Finance, the Fintech Financial and Risk Forum, the Fintech QBR and where relevant other Group committees around issues, trends, and changes in the Sanlam Fintech operating model(s) and operational delivery**Growing the Business Profitably**
Direct activities associated with the security and investment of the organisation's assets and funds and ensure that mergers & acquisitions, financial transactions, policies and procedures meet short and long-term objectives and regulatory body requirement
- Participate in the development and execution of Sanlam Fintech’s strategy
- Develop Financial Business Plans (with budgets) to support the delivery of strategy
- Drive the implementation of the plans and adjust/review as needed to meet profit targets
- Perform detailed financial analyses and make recommendations to improve profitability and returns on an ongoing basis
- Review and project Sanlam Fintech’s prospects for future growth within the organisation’s strategic and values framework
- Participate in and co-ordinate financial governance on any corporate transactions**Budget Process**
Own, manage and oversee the planning and budgeting process
- In conjunction with the CEO and Exco members prepare the annual budget and three-year plan and present to the Group Exco
- Track variances to budget and make recommendations to Executives where corrective action is needed**Reporting**
Oversight of all financial reporting by Sanlam Fintech and ensure this meets stakeholder requirements
- Drive forecasting, multi-year plans and sensitivity analysis
- Ensure efficient processes are in place to enable quality and timeous reporting to Group Finance Reporting and relevant boards
- Oversee the preparation and submission of annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS; other statutory reporting)
- Responsible for valuations of non-covered businesses
- Measurement and reporting of business unit key performance indicators (KPI’s), focussing on leading indicators. Leading discussions on notable KPI and other business information trends
- Identify trends, red flags and meaningful interpretation of MIS and reports**Governance**
Ensure organisation’s compliance to all relevant financial regulatory, business and reporting governances
- Set policies, procedures, standards and guidelines within finance that are aligned with regulatory standards and Sanlam Group Governance charters and policies
- Ensure the integrity of Financial reporting by maintaining a robust control environment
- Effective internal and external audit execution
- Ongoing improvement of systems and processes and alignment to Group initiatives**Alignment**
