**About the role**

Reporting to the **group head of payments, with a dotted line to the group CTO**, the payment CTO will be accountable for digital payments product innovation. Moreover, they will be responsible for RUN metrics including system availability, functionality, security, monitoring and performance optimisation. They will lead the payment’s development and quality assurance teams in best in class software development and maintenance of 24 hour payments system operations. They will also lead 3rd party integrations to internal payments systems in collaboration with sales teams in order to enable required client delivery.

The CTO will develop and lead the implementation of the strategy product development, technology platforms, partnerships and external relationships as well as building and managing the technology team in a digital and data driven payment processing company where security and reliability are at the core of operations

**Role responsibilities**:
Establish development, operations and service desk technical standards and ensure adherence.

Own the payments product roadmap.

Collaborate with business to analyse internal and market data to develop new payments products.

Supervise systems operations and maintenance.

Oversee partner and merchant integrations to payments systems.

Collaborate with platforms leaders to select fit for purpose platforms and ensure continuing sufficiency of these.

Act as a technical representative during deployment of related server environments.

Find opportunities for automation of workflows.

Manage the payments Network Operations Centre.

Manage key vendors.

Maintain and upgrade existing Linux and Windows infrastructure.

Design and manage complex systems in a multi-site environment.

Lead troubleshooting of large-scale production issues.

**Skills and experience**:
Minimum 15 years technology experience, of which 7 must have been in management, and 3 must have been in an engineering environment.

Experience as a CTO in financial services is an added advantage.

Proven ability to manage an ambitious dev. team.

Proven ability to manage complex production challenges.

Proven experience in overseeing quality assurance function.

Proven regression and functional testing capabilities.

Cloud experience an added advantage.

Experience with the following technologies.

**Education and certifications**:
Master’s or bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems or relevant technology based qualification.

MBA is an added advantage.

Additional technology certifications are an added advantage.

**Salary**: R1,500,000.00 - R1,600,000.00 per year
