**Job Purpose**:
Bidvest International Logistics (BIL) is a leading global transport and logistics company, whose partnership with EMO Trans, provides access to an international network of 250 offices in over 120 countries.
BIL seeks the permanent placement of a dedicated General Manager to effectively and efficiently administer the International Logistics (IL) Gauteng Region.
The successful incumbent will be responsible for the strategic management of the IL Gauteng region delivering forwarding, clearing and related services to clients in the region. Implement the IL strategy in the region. Ensure staff are engaged, empowered and motivated to deliver a customer service that will lead to improved financial performance. Maintain sound relationships with internal and external clients, third party service providers and other stakeholders towards exceptional service delivery. Manage expenditure of the region and drive continuous improvement. Minimize financial waste (write-offs, credit notes, penalties, demmurage and other unrecoverable costs). Promote the BIL values within the region and work well with other regions. Successfully implement the ESG strategy within the region and achieve all SHERQ objectives of the region.
**Qualifications & Experience**:
- Matric/Grade 12
- Relevant tertiary qualification essential
- Management post-graduate qualification wil be advantegeous
- Minimum of 5 years management experience
- Related experience in the Clearing & Freight Forwarding field - minimum of 5 years
- Commerial expertise including: client engagement, pricing negotiation, risk management and supply chain optimisation
- At least 5 years experience managing a team at Management level
- Financial and/or operational reporting will be advantegeous
**Key Responsibilities**:
**_ Manage and optimise the OTIFNE (On Time In Full No Errors) performance within the Region ensuring clients satisfaction_**
- Adapt the IL Strategy into a regional strategy and champion its implementation
- Ensure operational effectiveness, efficiency and quality control
- Identify potential risk areas and implement mitigation strategies, to ensure that the impact of the risk is minimiSed or eliminated
**_ Retain and acquire business through exceptional service delivery and relationship building_**
- Take accountability for your own region' s scorecard and the initiatives resulting from the trends and performance
- Visit clients and maintain regular communication with clients as required
- Investigate and approve additional value added products and processes specific to the clients needs
**_ Manage financial and physical resources to ensure region's profitability_**
- Provide inputs to the region's budget
- Monitor and manage expenses in accordance with budget, and initiate cost control initiatives
- Interpret profit and loss statement and provide inputs regarding accuracy, optimise resources
**_ Manage human resource performance and development to optimise utilisation_**
- Lead recruitment and selection processes
- Create climate for the team to support and encourage each other in support of team objectives
- Maintain industrial relations in the Region
**_ Managing information_**
- Put in place and maintain processes and procedures to ensure accurate upload of information on internal system e.g. Cargowise
- Prepare operational review and EXCO reports timeously
- Disseminate information to direct reports and ensure it filters down to teams
