Critical analysis of systems and their performance to eliminate repetitive defects and to enhance overall asset reliability.
- Learn and be a key custodian of problem-solving and tracking in the Department you are assigned to.
- Identify, investigate, motivate and implement changes related to the safe and effective performance of the various machine centers.
- Work closely with the departmental Maintenance Planner to ensure that equipment reliability tasks are programed into the CMMS.
- Provide support to the department’s maintenance team especially in the event of significant breakdowns.
- Have an active management role during outages assisting the maintenance team in managing the shut workload.
- Maintain a level of machine expertise ensuring that equipment / system obsolescence issues are dealt with timeously.
- Complete Failure analyses on all breakdown and planned corrective maintenance.
- Generates a monthly top ten failures report and action plan to rectify in O.P.P format.
- Does basic RCA on problem areas and proposes preventative or predictive Maintenance Schedules.
- Identifies training needs and training providers to improve the skill base, mentor apprentices or trainee Technicians.
- Project manage small projects related to their investigations.
- Remaining in touch with technology and advise on improvements with current systems.
- Performs standby duty in the plant to ensure that downtime is managed and minimised.
- Minimum requirement is a National Diploma in Engineering, preferably Mechanical Line.
- Root cause analyses and fault-finding experience.
- Equipment maintenance knowledge and experience.
- Excellent computer skills (Excel, Maximo/SAP, Word etc.), report writing skills and presentation skills.
- Ability to co-ordinate maintenance tasks, shutdowns and project work.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing team and interface with all members of the team.
