Measure, monitor and report on a shift basis, plant performance including operating efficiencies, production yield, plant availability and productivity
- Identify issues in efficiency of operations and suggest improvements
- Ensure all specified daily, weekly and monthly scheduled maintenance activities are conducted and report all shortcomings to prevent failures and downtime
- Check production output requirement is met and conforms to specification and quality standards
- Perform cycle counts to manage operating costs and ensure availability of material
- Ensure that all members of the operations team abide by all safety regulations and policies thus providing a safe workplace for all
- Challenge poor team behaviours and non-adherence to standards / policies in area
- Be an ambassador for Manufacturing Excellence and continuous improvement
- Ability to adapt to changing situations in a positive and flexible manner
- Motivate, oversee and coach plant operators and train new employees on how to safely use machinery and follow procedures
- Manage shift employee schedules and time-off requests.
- Ensure efficiency of nitrates operations on a Shift basis
- Comply with governance and established policies, systems, procedures and practices
- Comply with Safety, Health and Environment standards

**Duties & Responsibilities**:

**Qualifications & Experience**:

- Diploma in Chemical Engineering Qualification
- B-tech in Chemical Engineering (would be advantageous)
- 2 - 3 years in production supervisory role experience
- Thorough knowledge of production management theories, principles and practices
- Computer literacy and SAP experience
- Knowledge of the OHS Act and Explosive Act
- In-depth knowledge of maintenance in a manufacturing environment
- People management
