Big data specialist/analyst About the Company
We are a UAV company based in Cape Town, South Africa. We design and produce UAVs, such as quadcopters, and VTOL fixed wings for military and commercial use. We have been in operation for 10 years and we are rapidly expanding.

**Job Description**:
Your tasks shall include reviewing, analysing and reporting on big data stored and maintained by our organisation. Use manual techniques and automated analytics software to analyze large amounts of raw and unstructured data with the intent to find business insight, intelligence or any other useful information in it.

**Responsibilities**:

- Work closely with stakeholders across all levels and business areas to elicit data and analysis requirements
- Translate these requirements into reporting or data analysis specifications employing critical thinking to ensure alignment with the actual business need
- Specify, gather, clean, combine and aggregate data from disparate sources for data analysis and reporting needs
- Extract key insights and observations to influence/support business decisions and actions
- Design, build and maintain reports to track and communicate KPIs and results from data analysis activities
- Build data visualisation to improve access and visibility into the content from all key reports and our data in general
- Train and support user community in the use of reports and the interpretation of analysis results
- Cultivate relationships and Collaborate cross functionally to shape, support and execute on business and product goals
- Help define and improve our analytics standards through participation within the community of practice, conducting peer reviews and contribution to internal documentation
- Troubleshooting and performing root-cause analysis on underlying infrastructure such as TCP/IP issues and virtual machine issues
- Managing system metrics to handle alerts and optimise system services
- Multiple solutions are to be recommended to solve big data problems
- Able to justify and choose best solutions considering the client/stakeholders specific platforms and technologies

Experience and Requirements:

- Minimum 3+ years of recent experience within data analytics
- Tertiary education in a quantitative field (includes but not limited to statistics, engineering, computer science, agricultural science, economics, finance and business analytics
- Detail oriented, very organised, and able to perform job duties with mínimal supervision
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- work in a fast-paced environment and handle tight deadlines.
- Knows how to work well with stakeholders to gather data and analysis requirements and communicate findings
- Strong report/dashboard development and data visualisation skills
- Experience cleaning, assimilating, manipulating and aggregating data sets
- Knowledge of data analysis techniques
- Analytical and strong problem-solving skills
- Teamworking and colloboration

Important to note:

- Salary: R450 000 - R750 000
- Hybrid position
- Own Car essential
- Permanent role with a 3 months’ probation period.
- Background check and references required

**Salary**: R400,000.00 - R650,000.00 per year
