**Function**:
**Maintenance Operator**:
**POSITION PURPOSE**

The primary responsibility is to maintain constant awareness of the machinery in and around the factory and ensuring all maintenance related issues are attended to timeously and without delay to minimise any down time in the production environment.

**PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES**
- Provide the Factory with general maintenance of various smaller equipment (e.g. Welding Machines, Drill Press, Thread Cutter), as well as the larger machinery:

- Butt Welder; Orbital Welder; Circuit Bender; Testing Baths; Fin Press; Punch Press; Bending Press and Guillotine
- Carry out all maintenance duties in line with company and equipment standards as well as preventative maintenance plan
- Making use of a forklift and overhead crane as required
- Uphold all safety regulations and standards from both a company, equipment and legislative perspective
- Assist the teams with ad-hoc duties as required and / or instructed

**NATURE & SCOPE**

Reports directly to the Maintenance Supervisor with indirect reporting to plant supervision and management.

**WORKING CONDITIONS**

Working conditions are reflective of those required to accomplish the essential functions of the job. The working environment includes office, plant production floor, and outside exposed to elements. Physical activity required includes walking and standing approximately seventy percent of the time. Occasional lifting of up to 15kg with some bending, stooping, and climbing required.

**Profile**:
**KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS**
- Ability to use power tools
- Operate industrial forklift and Overhead Crane - with a valid license
- Communication skills including ability to read and write
- Good teamwork and work ethic is essential
- Ability to plan scheduled jobs proactively and work in line with a preventative maintenance plan
- 2 - 3 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment essential, within a similar role (equipment maintenance)
- Trade certification advantageous
- BAC manufacturing experience advantageous
