**THE FREIGHTMORE GROUP OF COMPANIES** **Operations Manager - (Johannesburg)** **WORKING HOURS** 07:00 - 17:00 (Mon - Fri) **REQUIREMENTS**: - Minimum 10 years of road freight industry experience - Minimum 5 years of manager and/or senior supervisor experience - Grade 12 - Diploma/ Degree in transport and logistics is advantageous - Driver’s license is compulsory - Fully computer literate - Sound knowledge of loading and off-loading principles - Sound knowledge of scheduled linehaul and local road freight principles - Understanding safe workplace practices and requirements - Excellent administration and organizational skills - Sound knowledge of salaries and wages principles, including the NBC for Road Freight Agreement - Reliable, trustworthy, and punctual - Sound knowledge of the Gauteng area and South Africa in general - Must be a team player and adapt to change easily - Parcel Perfect or similar systems knowledge and experience - Attention to detail and accuracy - Excellent communication skills - must be proficient at communicating at all levels within the organisation - The appointment will be in line with our employment equity plan and report **DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES** **SALES** - Accompany sales representatives on regular customer visits, including new business operational vetting - Liaise between Sales and Operations with regard to queries - Resolve operational related customer queries **OPERATIONS** - Manage and motivate the operations management team - Ensure the maximization of vehicles and process efficiencies - Handle operational queries and give guidance for solutions - Regular staff meetings with all operational employees - Resolve conflicts and disputes - Weekly measurement of Labour Broker usage and monthly paid staff overtime **ADMINISTRATION** - Ensure correct authorization and completion of orders and/or invoices - Authorize HR related issues such as leave, payroll, etc. - Manage salary and wage inputs of operational staff **INFORMATION** - Manage the timely and accurate capture of information into the various systems **GENERAL** - Ensure adherence to all Financial, Operational, Human Resources and Health and Safety SOPs - Manage the human resource management discipline by ensuring that all operational staff adhere to their agreed Task Lists/KPI's - Attend to various branch-related issues and queries - Action requests by management timeously and accurate **SECONDARY TASKS (Administrative)** - Assist in the operational management of Key Customer Accounts - Ensure housekeeping of branch as per agreed standard - Ensure that all agreed operational procedures are adhered to by all - Assist in the operational planning of linehaul vehicles and monitor on time departures and arrivals - Do all required operational reports and distribute - In consultation with the Technical Department plan line haul vehicle maintenance **TERTIARY TASKS ( General - as and when required )**: - Assist CSD in resolving operational issues - Tackle issues on the "ACTIVITY REPORTS" that do not get resolved - Be reasonably available after hours to assist with loading and off-loading shift queries Work Location: In person
