**Key role and duties** (Summary)**

The Business Intelligence (BI) Data Analyst critically analyses and transform data into meaningful analytics for end users. The Data Analyst uses the chosen reporting tool to deliver the reports or dashboards to support the organisation’s data analytics business strategy.

The resource is also responsible for ongoing improvement to ensure successful daily delivery

**Responsibilities**:
The Business Intelligence (BI) Data Analyst critically analyses and transform data into meaningful analytics for end users.

Aligns BI technologies with strategic objectives and initiatives

The Data Analyst uses the chosen reporting tool to deliver the reports or dashboards to support the organisation’s data analytics business strategy.

Responsible for ongoing improvement to ensure successful daily data and analytics delivery.

Develop procedures and processes for the analysis and profiling of data

Provide input into the collection and transformation of data needed int the data warehouse

Review and validate all data as it is being collected

Get buy in from stakeholders’ regard to analytics and data visualisation

Collaborating with BI development team in order to deploy system updates that allows working with data to support the intended analytics

Elicit requirements from data and analytics stakeholders to convey to the BI development team

Collaborate regularly with various teams and departments to align with key performance indicators

Remain at the cutting edge of BI and data analytics and always remain abreast of the trends ensuring PPECB is exploiting innovations

Develop and utilize dashboards effectively

Develop, analyse, modify processes, data structures and models

Make data driven decisions and recommendations for optimizing the business and reducing loss

Monitor analytics and metric results

Articulate and explain concisely the implications of complex data

Implement new data analysis methodologies

Identify and understand data anomalies

Automation of reporting

Transfer skills to other staff

Interact with customers to evaluate reporting and performance

Document control

Progress reporting on assigned metrics

Serve as project team member on implementing assigned projects according to defined project-team role.

PPECB brand ambassador and change agent

Use data science techniques to analyse data to draw constructive results

Advise BI manager on how BI (processes, practices and technologies) play a critical role in improving business management and optimization. This can be presented to EXCO

- Excellent problem and troubleshooting solving abilities
- Ability to think and act independently as well as collaboratively
- Strong data analysis & data modelling skills
- Strong reporting development skills in Microsoft SQL stack
- Strong data visualisation skills to present data and information to business users
- Detail orientated with regards to data quality and integrity
- Highly motivated, achievement orientated, goal driven with the ability to function well under demanding circumstances.
- Provide insight into requirements and respond appropriately
- Ability to demonstrate high levels of professionalism in dealing with clients
- Sound interpersonal relationship skills, communicates efficiently with an ability to build and maintain relationships.

**Knowledge**
- Knowledge of data analytics
- Knowledge of BI tools and decision support concepts
- Knowledge of POPIA and PAIA
- Experience Microsoft or other BI reporting tools
- Experience as a functional member of a Business Intelligence Team
- 3-5-year Data Analysis, data modelling and development, insights and analytics
- **Desirable**:

- Knowledge of relational databases
- Knowledge of data warehousing
- Knowledge of Machine learning, predictive analytics
- Knowledge ICT Change control principles
- Knowledge of Project management principles

**Qualifications**
- Essential:

- Minimum qualification of a National Diploma or Degree in Information Technology
- **Desirable**:

- Related tertiary qualification
