**_Position Purpose: _**
- Provide leadership and guidance in the establishment and management of an effective Finance Risk Management system
for Transnet
- Lead and guide the identification, assessment, response and reporting of Finance-related risks and compliance
exposures
- Lead and guide the development of an integrated Assurance Plan to adequately address key identified Finance risks and
related processes within Transnet in order to contribute to the financial sustainability of the organisation
- Enhance financial governance and compliance in Transnet’s dynamic and complex operations and commercial
environment through ongoing and effective oversight, risk management and reporting

**_Position outputs: _**
Finance risk management
- Lead and guide the identification, assessment, response and reporting of Finance-related risk and compliance exposures
- Lead and direct the evaluation of identified Finance risks and their current level of exposure
- Develop, implement and report on an integrated Assurance Plan for key finance processes and risks
- Manage the performance of risk maturity assessments across the Finance business
- Evaluate risk mitigation measures for Financial sustainability and emerging risks
- Manage and monitor Finance Risk Assurance activities and initiatives
- Manage assurance activities in respect of financial controls with internal and external service providers
- Monitor and ensure the development and maintenance of the Group Finance Risk Register
- Engage with Group Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) to ensure coordination of Finance risk management across
Transnet
- Enhance financial governance and compliance in a dynamic and complex operations and commercial environment
- Review and evaluate the effectiveness of policies in line with Finance governance and internal controls with key focus on
high risk areas
- Ensure the provision of specialist Risk advisory support to the organisation
- Contribute towards process review and mapping thereof
- Identify, review and ensure automation of processes
Reporting
- Oversee and coordinate the enterprise risk management process and reporting for Group Finance
- Develop and utilise financial risk analytics in the generation of management reports to ensure meaningful information that
enable effective decision making
- Employ data analytics to identify and report on trends
People management
- Coach, mentor and develop employees as required
Financial management
- Manage expenditure in line with business priorities and within budgetary constraints, and report deviations
**_Qualifications & Experience: _**
- B Com Accounting Honours
- A Risk Management and/or Audit related qualification is a must
- CA (SA) added advantage
- Minimum 12 years’ experience in Finance within a complex SOE of which at least 5 years at a senior managerial level is
required
- Seasoned professional with hands-on experience with public sector Risk Management and process requirements is
required
- Public sector audit experience will be an advantage
- Requirement of trust and honesty in the handling of Finances as per the National Credit Act Amendment 19
