Regional Project Geophysicist

**The AME Exploration Team **is seeking to recruit a **Geophysicist** to join and grow their team.

You will be expected to align to the Barrick DNA and to operate within our mining assets with our best people teams. You will contribute in a safe and cost-effective manner to achieve targets in accordance with Mine Safety Standards, Policies and Procedures and ensure daily targets are met.

You will contribute to improving quality and speed of exploration through acquisition, processing, interpretation, and integration of geophysical data on early-stage exploration projects through to operating Mines in the Africa-Middle East region, resulting in discovery of economically viable gold and copper deposits that will positively impact Barrick’s growth.

**Responsibilities**:

- Management of all aspects of project design, planning, data collection, processing, analysis, data quality control and reporting for multiple airborne, downhole, and ground based investigations.
- Concurrently manage various geophysics related tasks for multiple projects throughout the region.
- Be prepared to travel extensively to field offices and project areas.
- Lead the integration of geophysical ideas and interpretation within the AME region for the identification of new prospective projects, project areas or targets.
- Collaborate with the Senior AME Exploration Team to drive exploration strategy and best practice workflows throughout the region.
- Supervise external contractors and consultants and ensure activities are in compliance with Barrick standards.
- Monitor and steer Barrick Exploration sponsored research projects and education establishment partnerships.
- Document studies, outcomes and recommendations in relevant work plans and final reports.

**Qualification requirements**
- Bachelor’s degree in Geophysics/Geology from a recognized institution. Advanced degree (MSc/PhD) will be viewed favorably.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety, community, and environment.
- French language proficiency will be viewed favorably

**Experience and competencies needed**:

- Practical experience leveraging various electrical and potential fields prospecting tools for targeting in diverse geological environments
- Continued professional development and technical training.
- 5-10 years of geophysics experience preferentially including 3+ years of experience leading geophysical programs specifically targeting gold mineralization.
- Experience managing small, dedicated teams.
- Good communication and administration skills.
- Self-motivated and discovery driven, with focus on leadership.
- Geological/geophysical interpretive and integration skills.
- Firm understanding and recognition of mineralization models and geological processes.
- Firm understanding of technical aspects of all geophysical techniques and current best practices as applied to mineral exploration.
- Solid understanding of modern geophysical acquisition systems and processing workflows.
- Demonstrated ability to work within a high performing team
- Position will be based in Europe, Africa or the Middle East to ensure time zone alignment with the exploration projects.
- Demonstrated competence in Geosoft (Oasis Montaj), ArcGIS and 3D geoscience data integration platforms and proficient in industry standard 3D geophysical inversion technologies
