**Job Title**: Foundation Phase Teacher

**Reports To**: Principal / Head of Foundation Phase
**Job Summary**:
**Key Responsibilities**:
- **Curriculum Implementation**:
- Implement lesson plans that align with the national curriculum and educational standards.
- Create engaging learning experiences that cater to different learning styles and abilities.
- Integrate cross-curricular approaches that foster critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- **Classroom Management**:
- Establish and maintain a positive, supportive classroom environment that encourages student participation and promotes good behaviour.
- Develop and enforce classroom rules and routines to create a safe and conducive learning space.
- Address and manage behavioural issues in a respectful and constructive manner.
- **Assessment and Evaluation**:
- Monitor and assess student progress through various evaluation methods, including formative and summative assessments.
- Maintain accurate records of student performance and communicate these effectively to parents and school administration.
- Use assessment data to inform instructional decisions and provide targeted support to individual students.
- **Parent and Community Engagement**:
- Foster strong relationships with parents and caregivers to support student learning and development.
- Organize and participate in parent-teacher conferences, workshops, and school events to build community engagement.
- Collaborate with community organizations to enhance educational programs and resources.
- **Professional Development**:
- Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities to stay current on best teaching practices and educational trends.
- Collaborate with colleagues to share resources, strategies, and ideas for improving overall teaching effectiveness.
- Engage in reflective practice and solicit feedback to continually enhance personal teaching skills.
- **Inclusive Practices**:
- Implement strategies that support inclusive education for children with diverse learning needs and backgrounds.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all students, including those with special educational needs and English language learners.
- Support social-emotional learning programs to promote the well-being of all students.
**Qualifications**:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field (Foundation Phase).
- Recognized teaching qualification (e.g., a teaching diploma, B.Ed., PGCE).
- Valid teaching registration with the relevant authorities.
- SACE accreditation
- A minimum of 3 years of teaching experience in the Foundation Phase (preferred).
- Strong knowledge of foundational literacy and numeracy development.
- CAPS Curriculum experience
- ECD Qualification
- Valid Driver’s License
**Skills and Competencies**:
- Bilingual, preferably English and Afrikaans.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational and planning abilities.
- Ability to create a dynamic and engaging classroom environment.
- Proficient in using educational technologies and online learning platforms.
- Knowledge of current trends in early childhood education and child development.
**Working Conditions**:
- The position may require occasional additional hours for parent-teacher conferences, school events, and professional development.
- Class size may vary based on school policies and enrolment.
