**The duties and responsibilities of the **HTS Counsellor will include, but not limited to**:

- Provide an integrated, holistic client-centred HTS with support and guidance from the Professional Nurse.
- Obtain an informed, written consent for HIV counselling and testing, TB and STI’s screening.
- Perform HTS according to National Algorithm, finger prick for HIV rapid diagnostic testing and HIVSS according to National Protocol.
- Conduct workplace and community combination HIV prevention initiatives including STI’s, TB, HIV, risk reduction counselling, screening and appropriate referrals.
- Comply to HTS, waste management and infection control guidelines and policies.
- Support the Professional nurse with the implementation of Quality assurance programmes for HIV Testing and Counselling.
- Completing all required reports for the programme on HTS and referrals.
- Support the professional nurse with supply management and temperature control of test kits.
- Attend meetings, briefings, debriefing, staff meetings and other as directed to do so on a regular basis.

**Required Qualifications, Skills and Experience**
- Senior Certificate (Grade 12) OR equivalent Grade 10 with 1-year experience and relevant training
- HIV/AIDS Counselling Certificate - minimum 10-day Course and finger-prick certificate
- 1-2 years HIV counselling work experience.
- A recent finger-prick certificate not older than 2 years will be Advantageous.
- Basic Knowledge HIV/STI/SRH exposure or training and preventative approaches will be Advantageous.
- Understanding of South African guidelines of HIV Testing Services and related quality assurance processes
- Ability to understand technical procedures and governmental regulations.
- Written communication, ability to write clearly and read English.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of clients and general public.
- Good communication skills: speak clearly and persuasively in a positive or negative situation. Good listening skills
- Ability to travel as and when required.
