**PURPOSE OF THE JOB**

To establish, maintain and ensure adherence to the Food Safety & Quality Standards as required in the facility at all times, and to manage all resources required to achieve this objective

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**

**Food Safety and Food Safety Systems**:

- Ensure facility and staff complies at all times with relevant audit standard.
- Ensure accurate completion of records on a timely manner as set out by the procedures of the food safety management system
- Ensure accurate completion of all records as per our food safety management system by checking and signing of daily QC records
- Reporting any deviations to the Quality Manager

**Product Quality**:

- Take responsibility in terms of quality assurance and quality control for all for all products inside the facility.
- Ensure that all products manufactured are of unfailing quality, as per product specifications and customer expectation.
- Ensure functionality of all final products are maintained as per their intended use (preservative levels, anti-oxidant levels, curing salt levels and product colour).
- Ensure procedures in the quality laboratory are followed to ensure products adhere to specification (Taste tests, SO2, nitrite tests, COA’s etc.).
- Ensure that all raw materials conform to specification as per production and customer requirements.
- Ensuring that general day to day QC tasks are done.
- General administrative duties as set out by the Quality Manager
- Reporting any deviations to the Quality Manager.

**Other**:

- Maintain housekeeping standards to ensure a clean and safe workplace
- Handle all complaints and queries from staff and channel to the quality manager, deal with workplace conflict
- As per operational requirements you may be required to work nightshift and overtime when required
- As per operational requirements, you may be required to perform ad hoc tasks from time to time.

**REQUIRED MINIMUM EDUCATION & WORK EXPERIENCE**
- Matric / Grade 12
- Previous food safety / Health and Safety experience will be essential
- Ability to be self-motivated and manage the day to day production of orders
- Fully bilingual (Afrikaans & English) or a third language
- Min 3 years in a Quality Control role
- Computer literate
- Reliable transport

- High School (matric) (required)
