Reporting to the Head of Reverse Logistics

**Purpose of position**: Responsible for managing and directing all operational activities within the Returns Distribution Centre, covering above 10 000 square meters and employing over 200 staff members. A leader of change, providing overall leadership and management in operational areas such as operational efficiency, continuous improvement, driving performance and optimally satisfying customer orders.

**Your responsibilities will include**:
**Operational Duties**
- Overall management and coordination of all DC activities, including but not limited to Returns Processing, Inventory Management, Return to Merchant, SHE, Risk & Quality of operation
- Manage and improve returns to within agreed service levels.
- Ensure that all products are accurately received, evaluated, stored and dispatched appropriately within KPI parameters
- Ensure stock accuracy through disciplined stock control and implement stock accuracy improvement initiatives.
- Management of stock count program/schedule, reconciliation and reporting thereof.
- Ensure adequate control measures are implemented to make sure that mistakes, inaccuracies and discrepancies are highlighted, addressed and resolved timeously by the teams.
- Manage and measure all operations in terms of:

- **Quality **- Eliminating mistakes and rework - Do it right the first time
- **Delivery** - Driving down leadtime and lates
- **Cost** - Drive down cost per return
- Drive operational efficiency and excellence
- Identify continues improvement initiatives that will drive improved performance results
- Regularly review processes to ensure that they are streamlined, optimised and scalable
- Ensure process turnaround time is continually reviewed and improved where possible
- Ensuring DC adheres to company policy and administer practices in fair and equitable manner.
- Recommending policies and programs, which guide the organization in maintaining and improving its competitive position and the profitability of the operation.
- Works closely with support functions (HR, Finance, IT and Supply Chain) to build and secure support and resources for projects and initiatives.
- Manage projects according to stipulated time frames.
- Conform to all Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) standards and legislation as set out by the business and the OHS Act
- Consistent compliance to good hygiene and housekeeping disciplines. Ensure 5S program is properly implemented and maintained within facility
- Service & maintenance of all equipment utilised in the operation

**Customer Service**
- Establish and maintain meeting plan with relevant stakeholders to discuss SLA management.
- Ensure that customer's service expectations are met, including achieving all service level metrics.
- Ensure that the DC aligns itself to the Takealot corporate framework and that all signage and uniforms uphold the image of Takealot brand.

**Financial Management**
- Control monthly operational costs to stay within budget. Control the flexing of costs in line with volume fluctuation.
- Manage all over expenditure by means of pre-approval.
- Controls cost through process improvement initiatives, productivity of personnel, efficient utilization of space and protection of stored materials.
- Ensures protection and accuracy of inventory by adhering to all inventory control processes and procedures.
- Participate in annual budget process and long-term planning.

**People Management**
- Provide staff leadership and direction
- Ensures appropriate staffing levels by effectively forecasting resources needed to meet service, financial and operational requirements.
- Communicate and articulate to staff what the vision for the organization looks like and communicating clear strategies to move toward that vision.
- Performance measures to be in place per individual
- Ensure staff are adequately skilled and that suitable succession planning is maintained.
- Ensure that staff Productivity is measure and achieved.
- Ensure daily, weekly and monthly planning is done for all Inbound and Outbound operations including but not limited to, resource planning, departmental organisational design, relief planning, seasonal planning and manage adherence to plans.
- Ensure that all business processes, procedures and job profiles are documented, updated and communicated to staff.
- Ensure all staff understand the DC KPI's and work to achieve the desired results
- Conduct Performance Appraisals of staff in line with company deadlines.
