Valcare is a nonprofit company who ensures that social efforts have an actual impact within the communities of the Cape Winelands in South Africa. They have two strategic focuses: managing social investments effectively; and supporting nonprofit organisations through our membership network.

The incumbent will cultivate an open trust relationship between various partners and projects by creating inspiration to potential funders, partners, and projects to become involved. He/she will encourage engagement from partners to continuously increase effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities
Conducting regular communication audits to establish effectiveness of current communication strategy and reach.

Presentation of annual communication strategy and budget to COO

Management of budget and service providers, for example photographers, and videographers

Manage all external communication platforms including social media, website, newsletters, announcements, annual report, videos, stories etc.

Train staff in communication and PR to represent Valcare effectively in their dealings externally.

Implement and manage communication tools to support the funding strategy (e.g. thank you letters, donor packs, reports).

Act as spokesperson for Valcare

Protect the brand of Valcare and its use by staff and third parties.

Establish and maintain relationships with media and promote the work of Valcare through media channels, including radio, TV and newspapers etc.

Where necessary, represent Valcare in public forums or at conferences.

Consistent and correct use of internal communication systems

Design and manage effective use of templates

Establish and maintain internal staff calendar

Advise CEO on establishing and growing all aspects of the Valcare brand.

Conduct regular reviews of strategy with CEO and make recommendations for improvement and implement communication adjustments.

**Requirements**:
Post graduate degree in Communications or Public Relations
5 years’ experience and proven track record of Public Relations
Fund raising experience preferable
Excellent writing and conceptualizing skills, above average language proficiency, communication excellence
Social media and branding knowledge
Networking skills. Effective strategic planning and management skills
Digital, innovation, budget management and time management skills
