- The Head: Financial Reporting is responsible for leading the consolidated financial reporting function for the Momentum Investments Group (MIG) ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant financial reporting to internal and external stakeholders, including investors, regulators and senior management.The role will also involve strategic input into the financial direction of MIG, working closely with the CFO: Momentum Investments to support business objectives.

**Requirements**:

Educational Background**:

- Degree in Financial management, Accounting or Information Systems.
- Registered Chartered Accountant with South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (requirement).
- **
Experience**:

- Minimum of 10-15 years of experience in financial reporting within the financial services industry, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
- Extensive knowledge of IFRS, GAAP, and other relevant accounting standards.
- Proven track record of managing large and complex financial reporting functions at a portfolio level.

**Duties & Responsibilities**

**Financial Reporting**:

- Develop and implement the financial reporting framework and principles to oversee the interpretation and integration of financial information (revenue, margins and expenses) and the output from data and performance analysis.
- Oversee the process and compilation of fit for purpose monthly and quarterly financial insight reports, operational feedback, combined assurance and board reports, investors information and relevant strategic presentations.
- Liaise with financial teams to drive the review of preparation and presentation of accurate financial statements and reports in compliance with IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards), GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), and other relevant accounting standards and aid with relevant technical accounting opinions.
- Ensure timely submission of monthly quarterly, half-year, and annual financial reports.
- Direct the facilitation of all financial reporting queries within MIG.
- Direct the detailed expense reporting framework and processes within MIG.
- Lead the coordination of the annual audit program and processes, liaising with heads: strategic finance business partners and financial managers, external auditors, risk management and relevant Momentum Group Finance stakeholders to ensure smooth and efficient auditing.

**Regulatory Compliance**:

- Ensure compliance with all relevant financial reporting and regulatory requirements.
- Stay updated on changes in financial regulations and accounting standards, implementing necessary adjustments to reporting practices.
- Work closely with the relevant MIG financial teams to meet all statutory obligations.

**Financial Controls and Planning**
- Develop and review the robust internal financial controls framework and financial policies.
- Manage high risk and problematic financial issues and contribute to the development of financial control policy.
- Identify opportunities to enhance cost effectiveness and increase operational efficiency.
- Manage financial and other company resources under your control with due respect.
- Provide input into the risk identification processes and communicate recommendations in the appropriate forum.

**Strategic Financial Planning**:

- Provide insights and analysis on financial performance to support strategic decision-making.
- Collaborate with the CFO: Momentum Investments Group on budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning including principles and frameworks.
- Evaluate financial risks and opportunities, offering recommendations to improve financial performance.
- Drive key strategic financial reporting projects at a MIG Finance level.

**Team Leadership and Development**:

- Lead, mentor, and develop the financial reporting team, ensuring high performance and professional growth.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and excellence within the team.
- Drive the implementation of best practices in financial reporting across MIG.

**Stakeholder Management**:

- Act as a key point of contact for financial reporting matters within the Momentum Investments Group Financial team.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, including senior management, financial and investment teams.
- Present financial reports and findings to key stakeholders as required.

**Systems and Process Improvement**:

- Oversee the financial reporting systems and tools, ensuring they are robust, efficient, and fit for purpose.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of financial reporting.
