The Stock Controller is responsible for ensuring that the company’s stock levels meet business needs. They do this by overseeing purchases and pricing reports, replenishing levels when necessary, and monitoring shipments or internal transfers between departments within one business enterprise.

**Job brief**

Stock Controller responsibilities include tracking stock movement, overseeing inventory audits and maintaining reports of purchases and pricing. To be successful in this role, a stock controller should be familiar with supply chain procedures and have good communication skills to interact with suppliers, clients and internal teams.

Ultimately, the stock controller will increase profitability and effectiveness by checking and receiving stock in accordance with supplier orders placed, issuing and processing internal stock orders, maintaining optimal stock levels of quality products at all times and performing regular stock counts.

**Stock Controller responsibilities include**:

- Maintaining and checking consumable minimum stock levels to prevent overstocking and running out-of-stock (OOS)
- Preparing and completing orders for delivery or pickup according to schedule
- Receiving and processing stock (Consumable stock items, Raw Materials and Assembly Items) in accordance with orders placed with suppliers by the Manager Manufacture & Distribution
- Enter purchase details (vendors information, invoices and pricing and stock) to internal systems and databases
- Notifying the Manager Warehouse and Distribution to place orders to replenish consumable stock as needed
- Track stock movement and address any delays in consultation with the Manager Manufacture & Distribution - confirm order and delivery of stock
- Safe and secure storage of products, with consideration of fragile items
- Conduct and coordinate regular inventory audits
- Keep updated inventory records (including daily distribution)
- In consultation with the Manager Manufacture & Distribution and the Head of Finance, ensure consumable stock purchases do not exceed budget
- Performing warehouse inventory controls and keeping quality standards high for audits
- Keep a clean and safe working environment and optimise space utilisation
- Complete diary logs into inventory
- Report any discrepancies
- Communicate and cooperate with supervisors and coworkers
- Operate and maintain preventively warehouse vehicles and equipment
- Follow quality service standards and comply with procedures, rules and regulations
- Within reason, may be required to assist with other tasks

**Requirements and skills**
- Proven work experience as a Storeman, Stock Controller, Inventory Manager or similar role
- Good understanding of supply chain procedures
- Working knowledge of inventory management software
- Active participation in inventory audits
- Familiarity with modern warehousing practices and methods
- Good organisational and time management skills
- Excellent organization skills
- Good communication and negotiation abilities
- High level of accuracy
- Ability to work under pressure
