Risk and Performance Consultant

**Purpose**

Using your investment management knowledge, preferably gained from either working at an Asset Management Middle/Back office or in a Fund Accounting capacity, as a Performance or Risk Consultant, you will advise and work with a wide range of clients, both in SA and overseas.

Work will cover many spectrums including providing ongoing operational support to clients to ensure that they are gaining the maximum benefit from our systems.

As you progress in your knowledge and experience, you will be expected to provide support to the Sales team in the form of client product demonstrations, bringing credibility and expertise when required. The position also has input into the development of our software products via a close link with various Product Managers.

**Essential Responsibilities**

Operational Responsibilities
- Offer consulting and managed services to the Risk and Performance client base including, assisting with implementation and data consulting projects when required.
- Manage queries raised from clients in an efficient and professional manner.
- Consult with clients to identify efficiency gains through improved usage of the system.
- Participate in Client Services testing of any product releases.
- Assist with addressing client issues and managing client relationships.
- Assist with pre-sales and proof of concepts to demonstrate the capability of Risk and Performance products.
- Attend weekly Client Service meetings, offering feedback as to assigned issues.
- Work closely with Line Managers and within governance structures to address client issues.
- Maintain and fully utilise internal business productivity tools.
- Practical and theoretical experience of investment facing risk models and methodology including Value at Risk, liquidity, stress testing and regulatory risk gained within an asset management context and from a foundational data level upwards.
- Understanding of fundamental theory and practice underpinning risk models at an instrument level and including portfolio and market data, security modelling (including complex instruments), calculation and reporting
- Setting up risk models within an investment context as well as knowledge of process and industry best practice. Including preparation and integration of portfolio and market data, pricing fundamentals, risk analysis and analytics, and reporting.
- Ability to explain risk techniques, drivers and underpinning factors to investment practitioners and teams.

**Qualifications**
- Suitable Bachelors Qualification, showing an aptitude for quantitative analysis.
- CIPM, FRA or CFA charter or in progress is advantageous.

**Essential Skills**
- At least 3 years of experience in software delivery or risk analytics software or within a risk analytics operations team.
- Understanding of supporting operational workflow and data dependencies as well as understanding of different asset classes and instrument types.
- An understanding of investment analysis techniques and calculations including performance, attribution, derivative pricing, fixed income pricing and advanced risk analysis (VaR, Stress Testing, Back Testing, etc.).
- Experience in working with the above at the sub portfolio level down to security level.
- Strong knowledge of the investment management industry and key fund accounting concepts.
- Sound knowledge and understanding of Information Technology within a data and analytical context.
- Proven experience in the use of investment management systems particularly analytics systems.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a global, multicultural environment wherein diplomacy and a passion for diversity are paramount.
- Asset Management Middle/Back office or in a Fund Accounting experience, or within an analytics technology software organization.
- Proven ability to successfully manage client interaction, planning, training, execution and delivery.
- Ability to analyze problems and identify resolutions at a strategic and functional level.
- Able to develop and maintain positive working relationships with a wide audience, from technical staff to management, clients and coworkers.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
