- Create long-term and short-term product range plans in consultation with the senior management team.
- To manage and lead company’s product development process, from ideation through to completed product with packaging and instruction manuals and to maintain the key product development files.
- To monitor, manage and communicate internally all relevant legislations and other changes affecting all products.
- To work closely with the production plant providing product briefs and to guide them on product design, innovation, technology trends and to monitor related cost and performance issues of all products.
- To provide effective and timely communication and support to internal customers such as Sales, Customer Support, Supply Chain and Service teams on all product related issues including performance, market positioning, technical and commercial issues to ensure internal customers are up to date with all product related issues.
- To drive and contribute to marketing communication plans regarding product technologies, innovations and design stories that will strategically support brand equity targets in the short and long term.
- To run idea generation sessions regularly within the market identify current and future trends, needs and integrate them into the long-term roadmap.
- Manage drafting process of all products and models on Inventor, including assemblies and sub-assemblies. This also includes management of designer as a direct subordinate.
- Reviewing all products and models to increase production efficiencies and reduce costs.
- Interact with key suppliers on parts supply.
- Interact with production team to streamline and simplify assembly process.
- Be able to present to the Board on a quarterly basis.

**Qualifications**:

- A relevant Degree / Diploma - bachelor’s degree in industrial design, architecture or engineering.
- 10+ years relevant experience in Product Management / Development.
- Experience in Managing a team.
- Thorough understanding of the relevant market and a good understanding of the commercial environment and commercial relationships which can be incorporated into product strategies.
- Creativity combined with excellent analytical skills coupled with attention to detail and advanced problem-solving skills.
- Effective interpersonal skills including ability to establish and develop good business relationships.
- Good PC skills - esp. MS Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and SAP.
- First class communication (written / spoken) and presentation skills.
- A clear understanding of South African consumer behaviour, current and future trends, and technologies.
- Ability to manage (directly and indirectly) a diverse team of people and outputs.
