The **Youth Development Programme (ProSEED)** at Mamelani Projects is dedicated to empowering young people transitioning out of **Child and Youth Care Centres (CYCCs)** in Cape Town, South Africa. The programme addresses the critical need for support during this challenging phase, recognizing the unique vulnerabilities faced by care leavers, including those with migration backgrounds. ProSEED ensures that young people have access to essential resources, skills development, and emotional support as they navigate adulthood beyond care.

We are looking for a **Youth Transitions Facilitator** to join our **Youth Development Programme**, supporting young people transitioning from **Child and Youth Care Centres and Foster Care**. This role involves preparing young people for independent living when they leave care at 18 and providing continued support thereafter. The facilitator will also work with staff from care organisations and the child and youth care sector to develop strategies and best practices for supporting this group.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Provide mentorship and support to young people (ages 16-22) who have grown up in Alternative Care (CYCCs and Foster Care).
- Offer one-on-one mentoring and transitional support before and after young people leave care.
- Facilitate monthly experiential group sessions, wilderness experiences, and camps.
- Assist young people in accessing education, accommodation, skills training, and job opportunities to support their transition.
- Advocate for improved services and best practices in youth transitions from care.
- Build and maintain relationships with young people, strengthening their resilience and internal resources.
- Develop and maintain relationships with Child and Youth Care Centres and key stakeholders in the sector.

**Required Qualifications and Skills**:

- At least **three years’ experience** working with young people.
- A **qualification in Youth Development, Community Development, Social Work, or Psychology** is essential.
- Experience in counselling, mentoring, or coaching young people.
- Strong facilitation skills, with experience leading group sessions and individual mentoring.
- Ability to develop meaningful relationships with diverse young people, colleagues, and key stakeholders.
- Preferably multilingual; **proficiency in English is required**.
- A **valid driver’s license (Code 8) is essential**.
- Excellent administrative, communication, and presentation skills.
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
- Good listening skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to work over weekends and after hours as needed.
- An understanding of Youth Development principles would be beneficial.

Pay: R11 000,00 - R15 000,00 per month
