A large retail group is looking for dynamic and skilled individuals to join their team. The group owns 7 independent supermarkets across Durban and is looking for individuals who possess supermarket retail experience.

We are looking to employ an experienced fruit and vegetable manager.

**Duties and Responsibilities**

Complete management of stock and inventory control; maintain stock levels; monitor quality of stock in terms of suitability for sale.

Estimate requirements and determines quantities to be purchased, negotiate with representatives from supply companies.

Determines pricing strategy and advises store manager, coordinates in-store promotional activities and displays to maximize sales and profits

Ensure stock received is inspected for quality, checks if pricing is correct and coordinates stock takes and stock rotations

Ensure the group’s fresh produce team exercise hygiene control and maintain excellent housekeeping protocols in compliance with health departments.

Purchasing, management and control of inventory; stock checks; exercise the first in first out principal and control wastage.

Develop constructive and cooperative working relationships with your team and encourage mutual trust, respect and cooperation. Assist and care for co-workers and suppliers.

Come up with new ideas, to build and improve the produce department.

Conduct on-the-job training and coaching to your team by motivating and developing them to achieve objectives & strategies.

Ensure that produce team actively engage with customers; advising and assisting them by providing them with product information.

Administration: Conducts analysis on stock take reports, PLU Ranking and Sales reports.

Signing off on invoices, timesheets and checklists, draft duty roster and authorizes voids and returns

**Competencies**

Grade 12 (Matric)

Leadership skills as the individual will be overseeing the staff in the produce department

Strong communication skills; verbal and written

Strong problem-solving skills

Coping under pressure and setbacks

**Experience**

Experience in the fruit and vegetable retail industry is a must

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Durban, KwaZulu-Natal: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (required)
