Durban, South Africa Lead HR Consulting Full time

**Purpose**

To effectively ensure high availability of plant and equipment used in the fruit distribution and general cargo handling process and ensure that suitable supporting information systems are in place with high availability.

**Duties and Responsibilities**
- Manage the cooling plant & associated Facility infrastructure
- Manage and control the forklift fleet & Terminal equipment
- Manage the utilisation of lifting equipment
- Manage and control building maintenance activities
- Manage housekeeping equipment
- Manage departmental maintenance budget and expenditure
- Manage and lead subordinates with optimum morale at all times
- Manage & adhere to corporate governance rules and procedures
- Minimise downtime
- Ensure an optimum cooling plant is maintained to meet the needs of the facility
- Ensure service providers supply equipment that meets the company’s business plan.
- Ensure equipment provided is properly handled and maintained.
- Manage and control the leased forklift fleet & terminal equipment and ensure the costs remain within budget.
- Find ways of reducing equipment hiring costs
- Ensure availability of all cranes.
- Ensure cranes are properly maintained during the citrus off-season.
- Ensure all lifting gear is properly checked and certified
- Ensure buildings are properly maintained and are in keeping with required standards
- Ensure implementation and maintenance of agreed level of housekeeping standards in all maintenance working areas controlled
- Draw up departmental budget in conjunction with FPT Durban’s budget.
- Ensure that expenses are justified, approved and controlled.
- Manage capital budget
- Enable subordinates to perform assigned tasks confidently.
- Provide support and assistance to subordinates when required.
- Ensure subordinates receive adequate training.
- Identify training deficiencies where performance is concerned.
- Manage and track performance through the performance management system
- Ensure GAAP is adhered to
- Ensure documented records are in place

**Experience**
- Refrigeration Plant Operation and maintenance
- Cold-room Operation and maintenance
- Good practice in fruit handling within protocols
- Forklifts operation and maintenance
- Good practice of maintenance
- Down-time scheduling
- Building maintenance
- Management leadership and control
- NOSA/ISO/HACCP accreditation
- Environmental Impact knowledge

**Education**
- BSc, BTech, Electrical & Mechanical. Ammonia certified

**Job Type**: Permanent

**Salary**: R700,000.00 per year
